Appreciating the Normal Days

I found a quote on a blog last night. It is just what I needed this week. I find myself lately not appreciating my normal days at home. What used to be normal is no more, and right now my normal seems pretty crazy and chaotic at times. Now, don’t be mistaken, I love my children, love being at home with them, homeschooling them and simply loving them more than anything—and I do mean anything. Oh yes, I do know things will calm down, things will become routine again.

But what I need to remember is that while I am waiting for things to calm down and become normal, these:

are too quickly becoming these:

I do not want precious moments to be wasted because I am letting the here and now pass me by without appreciating it, enjoying it and loving it—whether it be crazy or not, this is my normal and I am blessed, so blessed to have it all!

I hope I can do my best to remember the words below when I am feeling overwhelmed with life’s every day demands.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return. - Mary Jean Iron
