Fun at the Zoo

We went to the zoo over Thanksgiving weekend. I love our zoo. The exhibits are really nice, it’s a large zoo, lots of animals, very clean and always so fun. This was probably the most fun we’ve ever had at our zoo! I don’t know what made it so much fun this time—a few things come to mind—it was Thanksgiving weekend and I always love doing things as a family over holidays, everyone was happy, and I finally began feeling like the old me emotionally and physically a little over a week ago. I am so thankful for this! It has been so long since I haven’t been moody, going between lack of patience or sad. This last pregnancy was so hard for me emotionally and I never realized just how much until I began to feel “happy” again. This is truly a blessing and an answered prayer.

Hanna wanted to feed the lorikeets on this trip to the zoo. We haven’t done that in a long time. They were very hungry and were all over the kids! Joe has never fed them, he’s always been afraid and has just watched. This time he braved it and did great! He was scared at first and a little jumpy, but after a few minutes he was loving it. One of the birds stayed on his hand even after it had finished eating and he had to make it get off.

Hanna had birds all over her too. She loved every minute of it!

Jamie and Jack managed to land a few birds as well. Jack was timid at first, but even he came around quickly and enjoyed watching the birds eat, and he had fun petting them. I know we’ll be doing this next time. This was their favorite part.

We have been watching five baby lion cubs since last Spring. They were so tiny then, and have grown so big so fast! Here is one of the males. We love checking the growth of these lions each time we are at the zoo. They fascinate me. I could watch them for hours.

We have two tigers at our zoo. They are rarely out. This trip one was out and roaring loudly.

Hanna’s favorite, the meerkats. There are quite a few of these little guys. Hanna could watch these all day long!

Here are a couple of pictures of me and Jesse. He just hung out with me and went between looking around and napping. He is such a sweet little guy. I love having him so close to me when we are out.

Joe wanted a picture with the Nutcracker. We’ll be going back soon for the Zoo Lights—another yearly tradition that we all enjoy.

Thanksgiving was a very fun time for our family. I loved having Jamie home all week. It made me miss the days he used to work from home. I was sad for him to go back to work. We have so much fun together, and our time together was much needed for both of us! For me, it was the best Thanksgiving I’ve celebrated with my family ever. I feel so full of love, peace and pure bliss right now. I am so excited and looking forward so much to all that we have planned for Christmas. This is such a magical and special time of year. I am so thankful for all that Heavenly Father has blessed me with and cannot let a day go by without remembering to thank Him.

  8. I remember visiting your zoo when we went up for my brother's graduation. It was so much fun, and made me so very jealous because our local zoo isn't that great.
You look so great in that first picture with you and Jesse.
