Zoo Lights

We went to see the lights at our zoo last night.  We all look forward to this each year.  I remember last year when we went it was about 30 degrees.  I was so glad for a mild night of about 50 degrees to go this year, especially since Jesse would be going along.

I love Christmas lights and there are so many to see.  My favorites are the candy cane trees and the tree that “dances” to Christmas music.

The kids enjoyed petting this pony for quite some time.  Joe and I took a “Pony Whisperer” class the beginning of this year where he got to groom, feed and saddle one of these ponies and then finish it off with a ride.  He LOVED it!  I can’t wait to take more zoo classes beginning in January.  We had so much fun.

I got a picture of Hanna and Joe last year by this same snowman, so I wanted to get one this year too.

Of course, our visit wouldn’t be complete without a talk with Santa and a picture with him.

Jack would have nothing to do with Santa.  He wouldn’t even take his candy from him.  It was pretty funny.  He completely collapsed into tears.

We got a family picture with Santa too.  You can barely see Jesse’s sweet little hat head peeking up over the wrap.  He slept through most of our zoo trip.

We had a really good time.  I know I say it alot, but I love Christmas time so much.  I love every single thing about it.  I can’t get enough of special memories being made and doing fun things together.  I cannot believe Christmas will be here next week.  I have to keep reminding myself that just because Christmas comes and goes, we will still be making so many memories together and doing lots of fun things together too.  For this, I am more thankful than I can put into words.

  2. Great photos. I love Jesse's hat. We like to do this too but I don't know if it is going to happen this year. Our zoo has a little train that you can ride in to see the lights and that is always the highlight of the trip.

  4. Looks like fun. And that zoo class sounds amazing. Caleb still talks about the pony Spooky that he rode at the zoo when he was 2. It's an amazing relationship kids can have with different animals.

  5. What a great Santa. Ours was so bad this year that when we left Drew said, "that was just a guy in a costume." His beard was so bad that I couldn't deny what he said. Funny.

  6. How wonderful ya'll live somewhere you can do outdoor activities like that at Christmas time. It has been incredibly cold here, 24 below the other day, so those activities are normally not even available around here.

We do our Christmas light viewing from the warmth of the car as we drive through the neighborhoods. =)
